Alyssa Milano Speaks Out About Breastfeeding Controversy

Recently Alyssa Milano shared a photo of her breastfeeding her daughter Bella, that some found offensive. Milano says, "I got really sad about it. Who are we that now we get upset as human beings if we see a woman feeding her baby.

Alyssa Milano spoke on the negative attention her Breastfeeding Selfie got, "I got really sad about it. Who are we that now we get upset as human beings if we see a woman feeding her baby. It's Crazy to me. But the coolest part without a doubt was I got so much support from the women that do breastfeed and if you're on twitter and go into my favorites I've got 100's of selfies of women Breastfeeding I favorited all of them that they sent me in solidarity and support and it was so lovely. Where are we that this has now become offensive?"

Sharon Osbourne says, "It's Ridiculous!"

Alyssa Milano goes on to say, “Not only is it beautiful, but it's also a necessity. I'm feeding my kid!”

Another lady from The view says, “Meanwhile we have to look at Kim Kardashian's Butt all over the place.”

Alyssa Milano says, “That was my point.”

Bringing Boobies Back

When I first stumbled upon Lori Burke's "All About That Breast" I knew it was an instant hit! Of course I immediately had to share it to my Facebook Page Breastfeeding Mama Talk. From there it started to spread like wild fire. I'm glad to see it getting the attention it deserves! Give it up for Lori Burke singing, 'All About That Breast!" Make sure to show her some love on her Facebook Page! (Here!)

A parody of "All About That Bass" by Meghan Trainor. Lori Burke performs "All About That Breast" and sends this one out to all of the new moms who may be nervous about breastfeeding in an "I got your back, mama" video. #nursinglikeaboss #loriburke @LoriMaytonBurke www.loriburke.com

Lori says, “I have two children 6 and 8 years old. I breastfed both but also bottle fed, pumped, used formula — I did it all. So I’m not trying to isolate moms who choose not to. I support all mothers and know that we all have to do what is best for our children and ourselves. Breast feeding is very stressful as a new mom. But it is the healthiest and least expensive way to feed your newborn, not to mention the bonding, immunities, and good things you pass on to your infant.”

The Breastfeeding Mama version of shaking it off

LYRICS-
I show too much skin
Got nothing coverin
I can never win mmm-mmm
I can never win mmm-mmm
I have too many kids
And with me is where they'll stay
At least that's what people say, mmm-mmm
That's what people say, mmm-mmm
But I keep Nursing
Can't stop won't stop Nursing
It's like I got this booby
that leaks all night
With a baby crying on my side
Cause the whaters gonna what what what what what ,
and the Butters gonna but but but but but
Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off
I'm not gonna break break break break break
I'm just gonna Lactate tate tate tate
I never get a break eak eak eak
Shake it off Shake it off
I never miss a feed
I'm lightning on my feet
And that's what they don't see, mmm-mmm
that's what they don't see, mmm-mmm
I'm nursing on my own (nursing on my own)
I make the rules up as I go (rules up as I go)
And that's what they don't know, mmm-mmm
that's what they don't know, mmm-mmm
But I keep Nursing
Can't stop won't stop Nursing
It's like I got this booby
that leaks all night
With a baby crying on my side
Cause the butters gonna but but but but but but ,
and the Whaters gonna what what what what what
Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off
I'm not gonna break break break break break
I'm just gonna gonna Lactate tate tate tate
my baby's gonna eat eat eat eat eat
eat all night eat all night
Shake it off, I shake it off,
I, I, I shake it off, I shake it off,
I, I, I shake it off, I shake it off,
I, I, I shake it off, I shake it off
Hey, hey, hey
Just think while you've been putting down and pout about the mothers and the pretty, pretty mommies of the world,
You could've been supporting Breast Feed ing.
A Mom sits down to Nurse her kid
She's like "Oh, my god!" but I'm just gonna shake.
And to the fella over there with the Nasty glare
you ain't phasing me, baby? I can Shake shake Shake
Yeah ohhh
Haters gonna hate hate hate....
Shake it off
Cause the Haters gonna hate hate hate ,
I'm just gonna lactate tate tate tate
and I'm never gonna break eak eak eak
I shake it off, I shake it off
Shake it off Shake it off
Shake it off Shake it off

Alyssa Milano Vs. Kim Kardashian

Over the past week, two celebrity pictures have caught my attention. One picture was of actress Alyssa Milano, getting all dolled up for a photo shoot while breastfeeding her baby at the same time and the other was of Kim Kardashian bearing her butt for the world to see.

According to society

Alyssa Milano posted her second breastfeeding photo on her Facebook page and received a ton of negative comments. Some said it should be kept private and isn't something the world needs to see. Kim Kardashian's butt picture and full frontal nude pictures have many breastfeeding moms in an outrage. I guess their thought is why do breastfeeding mothers receive such a negative response when they post a breastfeeding photo yet full on butt shots are okay and apparently even meets Facebook guidelines. I'm not about shaming other women for being comfortable enough in their own skin to flaunt what they have. By all means show it off sista! My upset is why is one more accepted than the other? Why do breastfeeding moms have to FIGHT for their right to breastfeed in public uncovered? Why are breastfeeding pictures being reported and removed off social media sites?

"Wait! I don't get it," Milano Tweeted in response to the Paper pictorial. "No disrespect to Kim but... people are offended by my breastfeeding selfies & are fine with her (amazing) booty cover?"

So what do you think? Why do you think society is so quick to judge moms for posting their breastfeeding pictures, but see a picture of bare butt and it's celebrated? Is seeing a visual of our bodies being used for their original purpose so disgusting and wrong that it should be kept in private? It just makes no sense! I think the shaming on both sides need to stop!

UMC Apologizes For Kicking Breastfeeding Mother Out...

Power in numbers! I believe the reason they finally apologized and took accountability was because of everyone rallying together and fighting for this mom. Originally they weren't taking that much accountability, they apologized, but proceeded to delete comments in favor of the mom and left the comments in favor of the Hospital. Then they deleted the apology all together, and then re-posted it. I want to personally thank everyone who supported this mom! If you want to keep up with all the updates as they happen feel free to join my new group Breastfeeding Moms Fight Back.  At the moment we're in the process of setting up a Nationwide Nurse-In.. Feel free to like Breastfeeding Moms Fight Back Public Page as well.
